Night Guard
A night guard is a bite appliance that you place in your mouth to protect your teeth from grinding and clinching in the middle of the night. It helps to prevent chipping, cracking, and headaches commonly caused from grinding and clinching of the teeth. The nightguard sits on top of either all your lower teeth (lower arch) or your upper teeth (upper arch). Where it is placed is determined by your KFA dentist based on your needs and habits.
Once you and your dentist agree you need a nightguard, next you will have impressions made of your teeth. This allows it to fit nice and snug. The lab will then create the nightguard using a strong material that will be unlikely to break during the night. Once the lab has the nightguard crafted, you will come back to the office where your doctor will adjust it to fit you properly and comfortably. Custom nightguards created by KFA Dental are most successful when they are adjusted so that your teeth come together in their natural bite position. Only then will you receive the maximum benefit.
